What does ANGIS AutoKrawl do?
AutoKrawl manages crawl data for any character
generator capable of producing a continuous crawl via its RS-232 port.
The information supplied to AutoKrawl can come form virtually any source:
ANGIS, a newsroom system, Notepad, the Web, an e-mail attachment, a word processor, a
spreadsheet program - anything or anybody who can produce a standard text file, can have that
file added to a continuous crawl by AutoKrawl.
What else can ANGIS AutoKrawl do?
AutoKrawl includes up to 10 user programmable macro buttons. This feature
affords quick and easy operation by even the most inexperienced staff.
For example, you can set one button to perform the correct CG font load for the
morning show and then place the CG in the correct message directory. The second button can
be used to send commands to setup the placement of the crawl, with the desired speed, and then
put the CG into external continuous crawl mode. The operator need only press the button
"Morning Show Button1" followed by "Morning Show Button 2" - not tough!
You can setup another pair of buttons to take the CG out of the external continuous crawl mode.
You can even use the programmable buttons to make the CG do things completely unrelated to
AutoKrawl - automatically set the CG for some other production or cast.
How does ANGIS AutoKrawl work?
Just create a directory on a PC or network drive, and tell AutoKrawl the location.
AutoKrawl reads all the files in that directory, sorts them alphabetically, then
feeds the data to the character generator over an RS-232 (serial), cable.
AutoKrawl can place your station's logo (or anything else), between each "story".
You can tell AutoKrawl to put helmets next to team names in sports scores,
the degree symbol after temperatures, up or down arrows after stock prices, symbols for
weather conditions in a forecast story, change the color of the text, etc.
Pretty versatile, isn't it?
